#4 - 40 till 40

Confused about this post? Start with the intro - HERE

I am grateful I grew up between cultures.

This is something I would not have been grateful for for most of my life, but with age comes new perspectives. I am now incredibly grateful for this because of all it exposed me to and how it informs my perspective today. I am able to see two sides to everything because, for me, there has always been two sides right in front of me and in my daily experience. It keeps the windows and doors open for me when my mind wants to narrow everything down to one way or one thing. It wasn’t always easy, and it still isn’t, but I now see this as the gift that it is. Though I often felt on the outside, belonging nowhere while also belonging everywhere, I can now see that I have always been a bridge, woven of two distinctly different strands, pulled / pushed in contradictory ways, connecting two disparate parts, integrating different parts into a harmonious whole. This has always been and continues to be an integral part of my life’s work, and I am grateful for it.
