I am grateful for my friends.

As a person who changes often, it might seem counterintuitive that I would keep decades long friendships, but I do. My friendships are sacred to me, even when they end. For a long time, all I wanted to be was a good friend and to help those who needed me. Something seemingly so positive became completely maladaptive for me. When I released that as an identity, inevitably some friendships fell away in their natural course. (Don’t get me wrong, I still want to be a good friend and have good friends, I just do it in a completely different way than I used to. There is a difference between this, and having it as an immovable part of your identity construct.) I am still grateful for and honor all friends who have crossed my path for any amount of time. There are so many different kinds of friendships for so many different kinds of reasons and I’ve had all sorts which is a gift in and of itself. I honor all that I have had the good fortune to know and connect with, even if they are no longer in my life. To those who travel this serpentine path of longevity with me, thank you for loving me in all my weird glory. To all I have been friends with, past, present, and future, I am grateful for you and to you.
